Hello all,
one of the servers which is under my administration is a Linux box with dual processor, currently running redhat 7.3
while checking through the logs (/var/log/messages) found out this error Jul 31 19:03:46 XXXXX kernel: ISR called reentrantly!! Jul 31 19:26:55 XXXXX kernel: ISR called reentrantly!! Jul 31 22:27:50 XXXXX kernel: ISR called reentrantly!!
The server is running a webserver and a mailinglist server
When interacting with the hosting company they said it is BIOS issue , hence we updated the BIOS. then upgraded the kernel. Kernel Upgrade: ============ Latest linux kernel version: (as of 10/08/203) Linux version 2.4.20-19.7smp
Old linux kernel version (when the error did occurred) ================== Linux version 2.4.18-24.7.xsmp Now I wanted to knw how the error message shown above and the BOIS was related. Can someone throw some light in the right direction, I do understand that the hardware and the kernel as closely related...
Is there more proper explanation of the relationship. Since the upgrade the reenatrant error has not appeared. but take a note the mailing list server is not yet LIVE, so the actual test would be when I bring back the mailing list server into production.
