On the net I found that knetworkmanager is perpetually having problems with different versions. On Saturday, I was awake till 5am trying to figure out its configuration files but no success, even removed it and re-installed it. On Sunday I finally threw it out
One of the things one must realize is that - use what works for you. I did ( and still do ) use Windows when I need it. I loved KDE and really "hated" GNOME initially. But then GNOME came across as solid, faster and more uniform. This is what KDE severely lacks. So I switched over to GNOME. I have similar reasons for switching over to Linux :)
