Proposal:
FSF India is already a registered not-for profit company. A lawyer and a chartered accountant are already appointed to care of the office work. In a few weeks time we will get the tax exemption certificate. Coming to this stage took FSF India a full one year. All this paper work in my opinion should not get unnecessarily repeated in all the cities and towns of the country.
What we should do is get money from which ever quarter, and send the money by demand draft or crossed cheque to FSF India (address given on gnu.org.in site).
Whenever we organize meetings/events if we have any expenses, one of us will spend get it reimbussed. As long as contributions are going from Mumbai there will be no problem for FSF India to meet the expenses.
Actually money involvement is least for running GLUG: if CDs selling is left completely to the person who is burning, who sells and keeps the extra money with him/her, and now and then if s/he wishes contributes to FSF.
Now and then when for workshops we need to travel, we can get the money from the national body.
Having spent my time for a national body already in getting it registered, I am not in favor of getting into another.
Keep up the good work, money is never an issue. What is the issue is TIME. Let each of us do a good auditing of how much time is spent in promoting swatantra software.
First think of donating TIME, and if you cant, then donate Money. And ask money from those who agree to our ideals and cant donate time.
