Usually, whenever I used to ping some site, output was something like:
############################################ [/home/soumen] $ ping yahoo.com PING yahoo.com (66.94.234.13) 56(84) bytes of data. From 203.94.230.117 icmp_seq=0 Packet filtered From 203.94.230.117 icmp_seq=1 Packet filtered From 203.94.230.117 icmp_seq=2 Packet filtered From 203.94.230.117 icmp_seq=3 Packet filtered
--- yahoo.com ping statistics --- 4 packets transmitted, 0 received, +4 errors, 100% packet loss, time 3039ms , pipe 2 [/home/soumen] $ ############################################
Yesterday to my surprise I could actually ping to various sites without the packets getting filtered (I did'nt capture the screen shot but the "Packet filtered" part was gone & I got some "ttl" & "time" values). On a hunch, I re-configured my Gmail account & it perfectly worked!!
Same case here too.But when i used to ping other sites i used to get packet filtered. But i was able to access those sites. SOmtimes my thunderbird works with POP for gmail ,sometimes it doesn't .But SMTP always works inspite of getting "packet filtered."
