Hi All Read a thread on ASUS/SIS and here is my story.
Firstly it seems to be linux compatible. http://www.linux-tested.com/results/asus_ab-t2301.html
A year and 2 months before i bought a compaq s5030il which has sis651 chipset 128 ram and p42.6ghz pre loaded with turbo linux. In the first week it started with sudden hangup.
What kernel. Kernels below 2.4.19 could be a source of problems under very specific combination of conditions (but unlikely). After how much time does it stop. Run the board with some heavy load like kernel compile. If it hangs earlier u have a thermal problem. Use in a chilled room. Try a faster ram. or a slower cpu. Memtest should also help in identifying problems. also check for a bios update. Although linux does not use the bios it is possible that some device like the supervisory sensors could be causing a problem. also try disabling the onboard graphics and using a graphics card. If nothing else works write to the vendor pointing out that it does not work under windows and linux from the beginning and ask for a refund or better still credit for a new mobo.
