hello, ah well, you are right on that issue of disclosing phone numbers. by the way I do it so that any one who needs my help can contact me. by the way this is an appeal to every one. as a part of free software concept seminar which I too am doing in a short time, I want every one using gnu/linux to put in their input. this will become a very thought provoking thread an dwill be refered back for a long time to come. may it be a user or a programmer, I want feedback on 3 major points. 1. how do we make people understand that there is nothing wrong in gnu/linux and rather it is better in some ways than what M$ offers. you all will appreciate the fact that it is a mentel block in people which makes us feel that what ever comes for free is not of good quality or in other words, there is some thing lerking behind so it is been given free. 2. People need to understand why is freedom of software so important. today I commenly hear people say "hey, in India it does not matter even if we used pyrated softwares, so licenced or not licensed it does not make a difference. we still share things freely!" this is the major problem when convincing people in India. 3. I have found that gnu/linux is still treated as a status sign. I mean today when one person out of 10 says he is very good at using linux he stands out from the rest and is considered to be the most expert. linux is not for the basic user. this is still the common thought and even corporates still think this way. I have my own arguments against all these points, but I like to have more and more feedback to make the stand even stronger. and please don't be over partial because the best way to become strong is to except what is weak. right? Please do send the feedback even if you are a programmer, isp using gnu/linux or a general desktop user. thanking all, Krishnakant.
