Hi Group,
I am interested in implementing a File server (using Samba) in my organization (70 users) which would also support public FTP.
I need suggestions about the following points.
- Which companies servers should we prefer (IBM, HP, Sun).
Or build your own? There really is no differentiation in the IA32 space except pricing.
- We are currently using linux firewall (IP tables), should I go in for a
hardware firewall (like pix).
Linux works.
- We do not have any centralized virus scanning facility. Any suggestions.
For what services? For Windows nodes only? Mail? HTTP Proxy?
- Any more suggestions would be highly appreciated.
70 users is not much. Don't buy a P IV based system. Use either Xeons, or if you can, Opterons. Don't make the Samba server accessible to the Internet.
