One to debug would be to press Ctl+Alt+F1, F2, F3, etc to get various kinds of messages while the installation process continues. I don't remember the exact association, but one pty gives you kernel messages, another shows you messages from Anaconda (the installer) while a third actually gives you a working prompt!
