This is precisely the reason why some of us have chosen the
model
of Debian distro, and the superb apt-get technology. Not to
open
a distro war, but to inform people here that these problems are solved ingeniously already.
Cud u throw some more light? As far as the issue on the hands is concerned, as I said I'm not allowed to do much with the installation, mainly becoz of my employer's policy and their resistance to change.
We badly need the C++ compiler on a 2 yr old RHL 6.2 installation. And I have PCQ 7.1 and SuSE 7.1 CDs with me.
But, I can try out a lot with my home PC, like I've been doing so far.
