I am a newbie for GUI programming on Unix/Linux. Can anybody help me to accomplish this? I am ready for using any native code if required.
It will be great if I can get insight with respect to nature and structure of shortcut (link) files. Is there any readymade library (docs) of APIs like we have MSDN for windows?
GTK-2.0 is very library and is available for M$ Windoze also. It will better if you use gtk. Because gtk has bindings for many languages (java, perl, c, c++, etc.).
Very good documentation is available on the gtk home (http://www.gtk.org/).
