I could not glean much out of this, but if you want a consistent and polished desktop, stick to applications for a single DE like KDE or GNOME.
I am not sure that Windows looks great, or is even functionally usable to me. Windowmaker is much more the way I like to work.
A good thing we all have the choice of whatever desktop we like.
