Hi Binad, I verified all the things but was not able to find a single entry which states ipv6 is enabled i checked /etc/sysconfig/network /etc/modprob.conf
I googled to check how to disable as i am using RHEL4AS as my OS it was given to modify few entries in /etc/modprob.conf but i am not able to find any to modify it. The command which you have mentioned is it safe to run as i am working on critical production servers. Please suggest

Seems to me this is an IPv6 related issue. Check if the problem goes away after you disable IPv6 (search Google for distro-specific ways of doing this).
echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/all/disable_ipv6
