oh no.. i am doomed. So what distro of GNU/Linux do you use?? i am sure it doesn't bundle OOo. Even if it does, they remove the capability to read / write .doc files.. right?
Wrong and wrong. which makes me doubt that u have installed anything at all recently.
Gimme a break and be practical.. use the right tool for the job and stop being a GNU/Linux fanboi.. and while you are at it, stop calling it GNU/Linux as well.. simply 'linux' does the trick. Don't get me wrong, I love linux.. it gives me and my family lunch, dinner, an occasional drink and a good life. I am a linux user/admin, not a slave.
Hmm. seems like u are just getting used to non serfdom without releasing what is freedom. The reason that .doc files is a wrong tool for ANY job are too numerous to mention. But u could start with interopeability.
Looking at the feathers that i have been ruffling as of late, looks like i'm not too welcome on this list. If thats the general consensus i'll sadly un-subscribe. Feedback solicited.
Whoever told u that. U are welcome until u are booted out. U will also know that u are stomping peoples toes when the list admin puts u on moderation. Until then keep posting - and expect fireworks. It takes all sorts of people to make a viable community - even the occassional use of doc files.
