Hi list,
I received a particular email from a certain company claiming to do research on "people who use linux". It's ok to do "research" but what got my attention was this particular line:
It would be grest if you could give us some time of your`s.We assure you that you will not be told to buy anything ....it is just a pure research for about an hour ...we will be giving you a gift for attending this group.
What "gift" ? "not be told to buy anything" ? Hmm...that seems quite suspicious. From when did *anyone*, in Mumbai, become so benevolent to give out free gifts? I used to receive several telephone calls where I would be invited to a "meeting" for an "hour" at the end of which we would get "gifts". I never attended one but I know they are scams or stupid marketing gimmicks.
well several market research cos conduct focussed discussion grps and depth interviews where they ask for your valuable time and give some small gift as an appreciation .
they gift you coz they know no one gives time for free .
these studies are commissed by big cos like rh / ms / novell / ibm / or whatever whoever to market research cos like orgmarg / etc ...
the sample selection is again outsrced to onfield execs who are not so sound with eng ... so dont get so paranoid abt the whole thing
harsh
Apart from that, there are several spelling mistakes, no professional
tone and the email is quite sloppily drafted. Could these guys be genuine? or is it just a scam? Looking forward to hearing from the more "experienced" luggers :)
Regards, Dinesh.
