It is likely that your motherboard bios will have an option to disable the on board sound card. Disable it. Then linux will not be able to detect it, and you can use the other card.

Now in redhat 8.0 and rh linux 7.1 the sound card [2] is detected properly.
but on mandrake i can not enjoy music :-( it detects 2 sound card but by default it selectes Onboard Sound card of
