I am mking one, I am not sure if it will be able to communicate with MSN messenger, however Netmeeting conversation will be avaiable.

I am currently working on similar stuff in java/C under Linux, using IBM's J323 engine to talk to Netmeeting from a telephone line.
I was wondering if you are making use of the openh323.org engine by any chance ?
I realize that its "closed" development, but if possible, I would love to know what technologies you are using.
I too am looking to have a linux voice client capable of "talking" with Messenger.
I know that Messenger has shifted away from H.323 to using SIP for signaling , but I am not sure what protocol thay are using for media (RTP or propriotary stuff ???)
