Vendors and users alike are sometimes unaware of the power of virtualization and what Wine has to offer. Most office people today
where licensing issues can be a concern. VMware does have alot of its application to support this for free so it would be a great way to get your feet wet.
Ahem. Its simpler and better to get your feet wet and all with qemu which is opensource and far far better than vmware in terms of performance.
Let me delve into this a bit - VMWare free = full software emulation . VMWare esx = accelerated virtualization. which means your image gets exposure to the core cpu if not the hardware. qemu + kqemu = VMWare esx, but gpl and free.
If you run a qemu+kqemu combo you are likely to get a near native performance as against VMWare free.
