A very bad idea imo. use an open format like theora. Afaik the real format is closed and encumbered. So u are likely to get into trouble. vlc is great for transcoding and streaming but requires some effort in understanding it's infinite features and comands.
Ok, so open format it is. I dont particularly care about the format. Only concerns are that when I upload those, they should choke the bandwidths of the people trying to view it, and they should be able to view it. Will they have to install additional plugins?
