Or if anyone has ported/developed an app for any set-top box would also suffice.
When dealing with applications, what matters the most is the toolchain you are using. The library files are also important.
1)Basically I would like to have a general idea of the development environment used.the SDK's used?
For the GNU toolchain, it will be glibc or uclibc C headers.
2)How is an app loaded on the set-top box?
You can transfer through serial port (very slow) or usually through ethernet to SDRAM on the set-top box/development board.
Final release can be flashed to NOR/NAND flash.
- Are the SDK's available for linux/windows?
Depends on what library files you are using.
- Is localization possible for such embedded apps?
It can be done.
Regards,
SK
