Is there a way I can start X in 640x480 mode without changing the global /etc/X11/xorg.conf file? My current routine constitutes changing that file, restarting X, playing Quake, and then changing the file back ...
AFAIR, the hotkeys are CTRL+ALT+PLUS and CTRL+ALT+MINUS for increasing or decreasing the resolutions. Make sure the resolutions you want to use exist in your modelines.
