since its a windoze partition(vfat), try the umask option. so the "auto, owner, user" becomes "auto,owner,user,umask=0" .
setting umask=0 gives 777 perms to all files, which might not be a good idea.
check the manpages :-)

Hello,
i currently have rhl 7.3 installed on my system. i added the foll line to "/etc/fstab" "/dev/hda1 /mnt/win vfat auto, owner, user 0 0" this change mounts the win partition in the partition in the directory /mnt/win with the permissions 755 & root as the owner so that no other user gets the write permission but i want to give write permission to my normal user account so i tried the foll line "/dev/hda1 /mnt/win vfat auto, owner, user,rw 0 0" but it does not work so i tried adding the foll line to "/etc/rc.d/rc.local" "chmod -R 777 /mnt/win" this only increased my boot up time, but did not solve the problem
this way i have to log in as the root 2 do even small changes am facing a lot of problems this way
plz help!!
