... because you don't have enough memory. The video driver doesn't have space so it keeps looping around waiting for memory space that it doesn't get.
Clear some memory in your hard disk and check your disk usage.
Here is my disk usage:
nipra@debian:~$ df -k Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on /dev/hda10 11345596 2199032 8570236 21% / tmpfs 120052 0 120052 0% /dev/shm /dev/hda12 5036284 397040 4383412 9% /home /dev/hda9 5036284 2960912 1819540 62% /mnt/Documentation /dev/hda8 5036284 2008524 2771928 43% /mnt/Ubuntu /dev/hda7 10072772 7212272 2348832 76% /mnt/Educational /dev/hda6 10072772 5086444 4474660 54% /mnt/Songs /dev/hda11 10065048 8081924 1471944 85% /mnt/Downloads /dev/hda1 10231392 8051192 2180200 79% /mnt/Windows tmpfs 10240 856 9384 9% /dev
I don't think it's an issue because I have enough space left in each partition. As for memory issue I have 256MB RAM and I haven't specified any video memory during configuration process.
