OOh, nice to see someone working on similar lines. i'm currently working
on
trying to get my huawei ec-168 - Reliance(12d1:1412) on a honeycomb tabby that i've got(No-Name chinese brand, Samsung S5PV210 CPU). Can you tell
me
if you've had any luck so far
Hi Rajeev,
Please check for the presence of the following, and get them if possible:
- Root access
Check - Yes
- Terminal emulator
Check - Connectbot local working, with 'su' also adb root shell
- PPP support in your kernel or a kernel module that you can insert, for
which you'll require the kernel source code
Currently running on the Bena kernel - 2.6.35.7-bena-a2p3, so i guess it's for android 2.3, hacked on with 3.0 userspace on top. Cant seem to find any reference to ppp in the dmesg output, but a couple of invocations to pppd seen to run without errors.
Also, ppp inside pptp vpn connections worked fine, so i'm guessing i have fully functional ppp stack.
4. Same for usb-serial support
Works fine, can even talk to the modem via at commands in a in-out cat session.
- Same for Option modem driver support (this is the name of the company
that originally created the ZeroCD mode switchable units)
usb_modeswitch is active, and switching the mode to make ttyUSB0-3 active. so i guess that hurdle is passed
- Some say slhc and ppp_generic drivers are also required
Well, lets see. if i can get async ppp working first, then we ty this :P
So, right now, i'm working on writing the correct chat script for reliance, but have not had the time to really sit on it.
Please check the proceedings here [

Frankly, I am surprised how a no-name Chinese manufacturer could give you a tablet with Honeycomb on it, when Google has restricted access to the source code to a few partners, but anyway, this is very interesting. What is the so-called brand, and how much did you pay for it? Is it this one? [

Close, it's an older version of the same, the one with the oval+round buttons instead of the slim rounded buttons on the side. This identifies itself as a Focus-MID in fastboot, and on forums is more popularly known as a Herotab M816.
The touchscreen is really bad, and camers+g-sensor are inoperative, but other than that, honeycomb is mighty stable on this, with almost no crashes or FC's, and even the market works great(though it's the gingerbread market, still looking for the honeycomb apk's).
