[ILUG-BOM] sshd dead but subsys locked

Hi all, I have a RHEL Server and am having a problem with sshd.I can't seem to correctly start it from my command line and i get an odd error when i view the status of the ssh deamon.. here's what is displayed:

$service sshd restart Stopping sshd: [FAILED] Starting sshd: [ OK ]

$service sshd status sshd dead but subsys locked

$ What is this sshd dead but subsys locked error? I am unable to connect to the server through ssh. Previously the server was in 172.30.x.x. zone and ssh was working fine. After shifting it to 172.29.x.x zone ssh is not working. Kindly help me out with this. Regards, Sneh.
