Registering the lug as a society has come up several times before. The needs for this are quite clear. We cannot do anything that deals with money until we are a registered society with a bank account.
The lug in the past has conducted several workshops and seminars for commercial organsiations. This could have been a great means for developing some means of income for the group which would have gone towards expenses incurred, eg. domain registration, refreshments during meetings, purchase of blank CDs, conveyance for members who go out and conduct these seminars. The remaining money could be used to fund projects at the FSF.
The only problem in our path so far has been the unavailability of suitable persons to see this registration through. I am not aware of the processes involved or the time line that we would be speaking of, so cannot comment further, but anyone else who knows about this should probably outline it on this list and then maybe we can find people to volunteer for the various tasks involved.
