If you want to access a windows partition as root then...
mount -t vfat /dev/hdxn /mount_point
x=a b c or d n=partition_number
or to use it as a regular user then....
In your /etc/fstab add this line
/dev/hdxn /mount_point vfat rw,exec,users,uid=user_name,gid=group_name 0 0
Reboot your machine and you can browse your partition as a regular user, even in GUI. :)
