A phone that uses a direct mini usb cable may be more better in detection than one with the flat connector-usb adapter. At a client's place, Kububtu 7.04 directly detected a Sony Erricson W810 phone and its contents. It showed up as 2 usb drives ( internal and external memory ) on the desktop.
