Thanks guys,
But I'm not sure whether Richard Stevens actually compares or gives details of BSD IPC or not... Anyway, thanks for your reply, I'll again go through Richard Stevens.
Is there any online reference / e-book for the same topic??? If yes, pls. forward me the URL
Thanks, Kunal

Ch. 3 of "UNIX Network Programming", I Edn., details IPC. However, you're quite correct in that his focus is mostly on Sys V IPC. he does not cover many BSD IPC techniques and functionality such as mmap at all. However, while I do not have the II Edn. I believe these topics are covered there. Why don't you check on this at Stevens' home page at kohala.com? I believe he has the TOC online.
You will find the original BSD 4.4 IPC documentation, in the form of

PSD:20 An Introductory 4.4BSD Interprocess Communication Tutorial (Postscript, PDF, ASCII)
* How to write programs that use the Interprocess Communication Facilities of 4.4BSD
and
PSD:21 An Advanced 4.4BSD Interprocess Communication Tutorial (Postscript, PDF, ASCII)
* The reference document (with some examples) for the Interprocess Communication Facilities of 4.4BSD
<unsnip>
on the FreeBSD website, at http://docs.freebsd.org/doc, along with a lot of other very useful stuff, including the BSD 4.4 Architecture manual, as well as legacy UNIX documentation which makes fascinating reading.
