Hi,
After much research I purchased a Reliance Netconnect broadband but to discover there pathetic customer care. I have written a my experience on my livejournal blog, http://jangid.livejournal.com/27778.html, so that others are not cheated.
Pasting it here for readers' convenience.
/*
I had applied for Reliance Netconnect plus wireless internet service on 23rd of March. And that was the last day for getting the 2 month bundled unlimited usage (10GB) free; that is worth Rs 3500. The next day I have got a call from RCOM that I am eligible for this offer. The official also asked me if I would like to see a demonstration of the wireless device. I said yes and after seeing the demo, at my home, I agreed to purchase this. I paid Rs 3500 to the dealer for the device on 04/04/2009. I got the device and connection was enabled. Everything was good.
The problem begins. Contrary to my belief that I'll get Rs 0 bill for the first two months, at end of the first month I have got a bill, of Rs 383, from RCOM. The bill amount should have been Rs 0. I have registered a complaint with them. I haven't got any response. Instead I am getting regular calls from RCOM for non payment of bills. Every time I get a call I tell them the full story. And each official agreed to resolve my issue.
Now one day I planned to visit my native place, Jaipur, to meet my parents. I was hoping that my business/work will not suffer because I can work remotely using the device I purchased from RCOM. I reached Jaipur and discovered that my internet is not working. I called up the toll free number of RCOM (1 800 3000 5555) and learnt from the official that my connection is deactivated due to non payment of bill. @#$#$%&%. I also learnt that a new bill is also generated for the second month. The second bill is of Rs 1125. Again the bill amount should have been Rs 0. I again registered a complained. I was told that the problem will be resolved in 24 hours.
I had registered my grievance at the Consumer Online Resource & Empowerment Centre (http://www.ccccore.co.in/ or http://www.core.nic.in/). Let's see what happens.
*/
Do forward this to your friends who are deciding to buy a wireless device for an internet connection.

Hi Pankaj, Whats the speed you were getting when you checked it ? is this the one which was much advertised as "20 times faster with speed upto 3.1Mbps in Reliance Broadband + Network" i checked it up with local vendor he was getting around 512kbps, i said thank you and walked out.

Yes it is the same one. When (once) I was connected I use to get 500+ kbps. But that is enough, for now I suppose, given the kind of mobility it gives. But beware of there pathetic customer service.

You have not mentioned what is the Rs. 383/- for.
It was first month's bill. They assumed that i have selected rs 650/pm plan. For the second month also they assumed the same.

Didn't you fill the form? If the guy filled it up and took your signature, you must be having a copy of the same. Please remember that only black and white counts, no verbal assurances.

100% true. I had similar experience of TataIndicom BB. The sales guy promised one month free and then 700.00 /m for 256 unlimited. I signed up and they installed the line. Then billing department said no such scheme and I showed then B/W given by sales guy. They took back the line. :-)

When I have a choice, I stay away from any service that has any reliance connection; even when the alternative costs more. Eventually, the reliance service ends up costing more - poor service, banging your head against the wall when you have explained it for the nth time to their call center reps. Has anybody got any refund from them for services not fulfilled?

Reliance is the worst.. and the datacard is even more pathetic i tried both the card and broadband and regretted having both. I would rather stay without a net connection than get a reliance connection

Not advocating Reliance in any way, but I purchased a Rs 2500 phone with a Reliance pre-paid connection over 3 years years ago, which I've been using with the data cable for 'net connectivity when on the move. Paid Rs 1000 once for a lifetime connection, and haven't had any issues with the device or with the service so far. OK, they de-provisioned the data service once because my balance was low, but that too got fixed in a day.
BTW, the home city for the phone is Delhi and it's usually used outside the NCR.

I have been a Reliance user since 5 years and I never do any transaction with a representative at my place. I always go to the Web World and after filling the form I take a Xerox copy on their own machine and submit the form. If we take precautions from our side we will have less trouble later. Put everything in black and white and keep a copy.
The only time I had problems was when I moved from pre-paid to post-paid and my outgoing calls would return an engaged tone. I had to break my head will the technical dept. for 2 weeks, even give my then brand new Nokia phone to Nokia for repairs that were never required. Another niusance is that in 5 years I have submitted by documents 4 to 5 times to them. Otherwise their phone network is very good. Internet connectivity has deteriorated since more than a year as I see from my clients' experiences.

You're stupid. Dont come here crying if you get conned. This is not a general forum. FYI I'm currently using Reliance Broadnet Combo ( FLP + Broadband ). I have no billing issues till date.
BTW I would love to hear what your so-called research was?
Now the next time you decide to purchase anything listen to my advice. Get everything in writing - atleast a pamphlet which specifies clear what "goodies" are they offering you. Always get the phone number of the sales guy who contacted you. Before you hand over money call up the "customer care" ( bunch of morons :P ) and confirm that the goodies do exist. That way you can catch hold of the person and provide proof of what you were promised incase you get scammed again.

Fat chance. None of the Field Agents are employees. They pull these cons then switch.
Before letting ANY FA anywhere near you ask for an original ID. None of them have one. Infact MTNL is the only organisation that has employees carrying ids. When they send a vendor (once for an ADSL problem), he is accompanied by the MTNL guy.
And as Rony suggested pay only at the company shop.

These FA are real crooks. They come up with such stories to enter the home/office for their sale. I recollect Airtel FAs had targeted MTNL customers and made up a story of a tie-up to provide Airtel SIM cards to MTNL users. I saw one at a client's office and one even turned up at my residence.
