I'm currently using Cable net. The cable ISP has set up LAN and giving me access over PPPOE and I can also access his ftp,ssh,smtp on his router, I can mail to my email on gmail.com from his smtp on the router.
Can I set set smtp on my computer and mail the world using it?

Yes you can, Just make sure that your ISP's ipaddress pool is not blacklisted by RBL lists. Visit http://rbls.org

and if you have dynamic ip - many hosts will not accept the mail
