Hi, I'm new to Linux and have recently purchased an Acer Aspire One and loaded Kubuntu onto it. I find that I get no audio at all. Followed instructions at http://help.ubuntu.com/community/AspireOne . However, after doing all the tweaks, found that it requires Alsa 1.0.17. Tried downloading Alsa 1.0.17 and compiling it. However, not successful. Any suggestions please? Thanking you in advance. Sanjay Singhvi

I can see that Alsa 1.0.17 is available in the upcoming release 8.10 Intrepid Ibex. In fact am using that version in my system and if am not wrong, the same should be available with Kubuntu 8.10 as well, which means it should be in the Kubuntu repository for 8.10 release (which is in Beta/RC stage now). Was the document you point referring to Kubuntu 8.10 or 8.04? Sorry my connection is quite flaky that am not able to check that document myself.

Which Kubuntu distro did you load. I believe, Ubuntu has a special portable version for these mini notebooks with Atom processors.

Try uninstalling pulseaudio if it is installed.
