Sometime Today, Dinesh Shah assembled some asciibets to say:
Let us have a slug fest in our next GLUG meet.
Last date for nomination : 5th April 2004.
Let's just have it this Saturday - 3rd April. We'll decide teams on the spot.

I don't mind having it on this Sunday... Provided we have venue and participants. :-)

Let's get things rolling... With regards,
I will be there for Saturday 3rd April
Red Hat India has launched the Red Hat Scholarships -- The Open Source Challenge for students of engineering colleges across India. The program is open to students from engineering colleges across India and carries scholarships of Rs 10 lakhs. The program will be conducted jointly with the Kanwal Rekhi School of Information Technology at IIT Bombay.

Good to have such campaigns but practically speaking we shouldn't just depend on any one commercial organisation to begin work at the grass root level. There is more commercial benefit to be accrued for them much higher up the value chain as we continue to see it.
I would like us to work towards inviting consortiums across the value chain towards working together on pushing FLOSS at the grass root level across the country.
FLOSS has a long way to go and it needs all the support it can get from each and every one of us including each and every Enterprise out there. We just need a start................!!!!
