I am planning to buy a Dell Inspiron 1525. Is it the right choice or should i consider something else ?
I am using Debian 'Sid' on Apple Macbook White early 2008 model. Apart from some very good tweaks during installation and later to get work 'wifi' and 'isight', it is working perfect now!
No more tweaking is necessary to get the Wifi working. The ath9k driver shipped with the latest Fedora 9 kernel, which is a 2.6.27 with the latest wireless patches, and onwards works out of the box.
For the iSight camera, you need to extract the proprietary firmware from the MacOS driver using the isight-firmware-tools [1].
Having said that, I would advise you _against_ buying a MacBook [2].
Cheers, Debarshi

Yep. Already available in Debian.

Huh, that is different issue!

And how is this the Macbook's fault ? DVD region encoding is enforced by all legally manufactured DVD players. Apple, OS X or Steve jobs has nothing to do with it.
And FWIW, the stores that you buy your DVDs from, don't necessarily pay attention to the regions *they get their supplies from*, hence your problem.
