Is SWAP = 2 x RAM a thumb rule? Why do I need 512MB swap for 256MB RAM?
I work on 64MB RAM + 128MB swap < 256MB! So if I upgrade to 256RAM, I dont need swap?! or do I? Any lower limit?

Home PC or server ?
at home i run 128MB ram, 70MB swap. my avg. swap usage < 15MB. when deciding how much swap space ... dont over do it !! look at what u intend to use the m/c for . ive read that 2xRAM .. rule. often .. although safe... at times rather unecessary ... it more a safety margin. ( if U run short ... ur in trouble !!! )
