does any1 know why the qmail /var/qmail is the root of the qmail file structure? i mean doesnt that go agains the unix file structure. since /bin/ etc files get stored in /var/ ?
wouldnt it have been prefered if it would have been /usr/qmail or something ?
also what bout the MUA's supporting qmail for POP mail access. which ones support qmail? what bout outlook and netscape?

Some whacky behaviour very typical do Dan Bernstein ... the guy with "attitude". By far, qmail is pretty well behaved ... you should check out packages like daemontools, that create directories named /package, /service and /command!

MUA support for a particular POP-server is irrelevant, as long as both talk POP.
Sameer.
I think MUA's which you listed have nothing to do about SMTP n POP or IMAP servers ...till the time both MUA's n MTA's are RFC Compliant...
and i guess Qmail is very much RFC Compliant.... and as regards to your directory strcuture question, the best person to ask is DJB ....
