I wrote a little perl script that reads through the pipermail archives and lets you know whether a message is top-posted/overquoted/has long lines/excessively long signature/disclaimer attached to it.
Find the script at: http://db.ilug-bom.org.in/lug-authors/philip/bin/maillist_grouchy_old_man
See it in action at: http://db.ilug-bom.org.in/cgi-bin/grouchy-man/message_id
Where message_id is the id of a message (including leading zeroes)
eg: http://db.ilug-bom.org.in/cgi-bin/grouchy-man/014113 for a nice example from Dinesh.
Figure out what the different values at the bottom mean.
Now don't overload the server having fun.
Suggestions for improvement welcome. Requests to explain/comment the code will be met with deaf ears.

[snip] How about some historical stats and top 10 violaters for the month stats ?? Maybe that will help :) restore some normalcy. g,d&r flames > /dev/null 2>&1
Sometime Today, Vinayak Hegde assembled some asciibets to say:

I thought about that, but my popularity is already quite low :D

:D What if there is popular demand ? I was about to request for similar things when I got Vinayak's mail. In addition to monthly stats, we could have an all time record's page. On c.l.l C.Brownie has a weekly post with detailed stats about posters, cross-posters, original-content/quoted-content ratios .. etc.etc.
