You would be wise to learn GNU/Linux well. Even if u are using windows. It is usually your last bastion after windows is finished with u. besides getting anything done is a breeze in GNU/Linux.
As far as possible, for most of my work, I use Open Source Software or work in Redhat 9.0. I would be shifting to Fedora Core 5 after 16th May (the day when I write my last exam of Semester VI [GRADUATION])
Could you post the current curriculum or point me to some place where it is available.
I had designed a page long back... http://www.geocities.com/d_rosh2001/web.html
I know the design and the color comibination of the page is too bad, was my first design...when I just started understanding HTML.
here's another important source: http://www.mu.ac.in/ide/sylbscit.pdf is the file to download.
Under Semester 3, we have a subject called System Programming, but deals mostly with UNIX commands and working of the operating system.

We are taught that in Sem 6 of BE (Comp Engg.) @ MU. But its important to note that even though the subject says OS with UNIX, most colleges dont have UNIX installed on their systems. They teach the subject with Linux.
