I found this in the FAQ of knoppix. I found most of us ignore the k in knoppix when pronouncing it. Hope that this helps improve us.
F: (english only) What is the correct pronounciation for "Knoppix"?
A: As opposed to the usual pronounciation of words starting with "K" in english (like "knight"), the "K" is not silent in german. So, the correct pronounciation (if you are an english reader) would read "k'nop-iks".

Yes, that's very smart. Seriously, weren't g'nu and g'nu slash lih-nucks enough?! You, open source guys, are trying real hard to make things difficult.
