Digium (Asterisk) cannot distribute a skype connector with their appliances, having been served a notice from M$.

It was to be expected.
Next they will migrate the Skype servers to their own platform, add features available only through the Windows client and stop development on the Linux client.
I recall, how a few years ago, almost everyone that I interacted with from the Indian sub continent, had an email address <*>@hotmail.com. Interestingly, none of them use their hotmail address anymore and they have moved on to a Yahoo! or a Gmail address.

steve might left M$ because the BoD are not happy with the skype purchase ...

Do you have a source for this inside the Microsoft boardroom, or are you just indulging in rumour mongering?

As I requested, something authentic please - not one blogger's opinion. To be fair to the blogger, he doesn't say that the Microsoft board is unhappy with Ballmer or the Skype deal - only that he isn't.
(Plus, he seems to be evaluating Microsoft stock performance purely based on its price. Any financial analyst will tell you this is an incomplete analysis - one needs to consider the dividends as well.
From the chart in the page linked from the above, it can be seen that
Microsoft has been paying quarterly dividends since 2004. I'd say the story would be different if one considered the stock price adjusted for dividends).

I of course do. What I couldn't find is any reference to Microsoft's BoD being unhappy with the Skype acquisition - a tidbit I'm sure is a figment of YOUR imagination.

IMHO, it is the BoD that approves an acquisition, even though it may be proposed by the CEO. If there were issues about acquiring Skype, they would have been dealt with at an earlier stage.
That said, I must use up my remaining Skype credit soon. I just hope Skype wasted all that money on beach parties rather than keep it in the bank. I don't want Microsoft to get it.
