Hi Sujeet,
The settings are as below, open Evolution.Tools->settings->Mail
Accounts->Add to create new or edit if exists. Open Evolution Account Editor, select Receiving mail tab, do the following settings.
Server Type : POP Host : pop.gmail.com username: your gmail address Use Secure Connection (SSl) : ALWAYS Authentication Type : Password
Regards, Milind
Hi Milind,
Already did that, but it doesn't work. The POP port for GMail is 995 (not the default 110). There seems to be no way to set that in Evolution. Are you able to retrieve your GMAil using the above settings?
Hi Sujeet, With the settings given above on Evolution 1.2.2 , I regularly download the mails from gmail server. I have a screen shot (.png file of 30Kb ) of my settings and forwarding you off list.

Guys,
I have been deparately trying to configure Gmail with thunderbird. I have set the port 995, Use Secure Connection, Use Secure Authentication.
Whenever I click on get mail for my Gmail account, it just hangs saying "Connecting to pop.gmail.com..."
Anybody currently using Gmail with thunderbird?

In my quest for getting gmail working with linux, I did exactly as advised on this list & by one kind soul Sujeet. Still no result.
I also took tcpdump output for the entries which (I think) pertain to gmail:
17:35:30.419412 203.94.237.70.32795 > 203.94.227.70.domain: 22050+ A? pop.gmail.com. And the last entry keep repeating endlessly (with thunderbird showing "Connecting to pop.gmail.com...")
Any ideas ?

I never tried ThunderBird + gmail, but the settings specified above works for me with evolution 1.2.2 (RH9).
