Could you try this -- unplug your router and plug it back in. Once the USB LED on your router starts glowing, execute this command:

Strange. What kernel are you using? With Ubuntu you must have HAL installed as well right?
Is the USB onboard or a separate card? Who is the manufacturer? What other USB devices have you been able to get working?
Also, once the router is plugged in and all the lights except LAN are on, post the output of `ifconfig` and `route -n`
Also, did you try adding the Network Monitor applets on your gnome panel like I had mentioned in my last email?
