hello all,
i am installing a Diskless client. i am using a package from Linux Terminal Server Project(www.ltsp.org ). the package did all my configuration. the problem is once the client boots, it downloads the kernel and then says kernel panic. the error is due to NFS root not found. my main problem is even though the /etc/exports file is updated and i restarted the server just to make sure nfs reads the /etc/exports file, the /proc/fs/nfs/xtab file does not have entries for the exported filesystem. exportsfs does show that the file system is exported.
any more ideas why this is happening?
thanks
sagar

http://www.google.com/search?q=cyberoam+client+linux will show you that there is a project running on sourceforge. Further checks will tell you that the project admin is Amish Mehta from our lug. Maybe you should have done that first na?

Did that first. the project http://sourceforge.net/projects/cyberoam/ owned by Amish Mehta has no released files, zero cvs commits and zero cvs adds.
So, know any place I could download it?

any way we will also do a google (or any other) search to tell you that so why don't you search and inform us about that.
Philip and Pankaj,
While I agree with what you guys have to say about doing a search before posting a question on the list, one point I would like to make is that there are quite a lot of people to whom this does not occur initially, especially newbies. It would be nice therefore if you could break this idea to them rather more gently.
Just my thoughts...

Well, the mail sent to people when they join the list does contain instructions, so, it *should* occur to them initially.
Anyway, cnb is an old hand here, and I really expected him to have searched. Now we see that he did in fact search, and found nothing of much use.
The only flaw in his mail therefore, was that he didn't mention that he had already searched. Also, Cc'ing amish (the maintainer of the project on sourceforge) would have been a good idea.

Is the kernel image specially compiled for the client actually present in the exported folder on the server?

Since it says "kernel panic", the kernel is present on the server and is downloaded.
How did you "restart" the server - which server? The whole machine, or just nfsd?
