How to automatically load a module by its name without putting modprobe modulename in /etc/rc.local
I guess /etc/modules.conf is to be edited .
please guide

add the module name to /etc/modules (for Debian distros)

IAC, The Debian way is like this
Eg: Adding a RTL 8139 NIC module
Edit /etc/modutils/lan
Add this entry
alias eth0 8139too
Then
#update-modules
