why we would like to run two distro's on a single server?
Suppose i have a server with 8 processors 16GB of memory...! The idle time is arnd 80% wouldnt i love to run the corporate mail server Qmail on Suse Linux and also run Oracle database on Redhat 9.0....!
For that very purpose if we can create domains
Domain 1 : 2 Processors 2 Memory modules (4 GB) OS : Suse Linux App :Qmail
Domain 2 : 4 Procesors 3 Memory modules OS : RedHat 9.0 App : Oracle
Some resources left for future use......!
Howzzzat optimum utilization of a server for critical apps...!
whatsay guys :) The link sent by one of our luggers a software called xen probably seems to make this a possibility.....!

pardon my ignorance. why not oracle on domain1 itself

Actually xen does have some serious people behind it . (HP , Novell, AMD , Red Hat)

Also please note that xen is supposed to be better than vmware as the virtualisation it offers is much closer to pure hardware virtualisation that is offered on big iron machines from companies like IBM.
The only problem is that the guest OS has to be 'ported' to work on xen. The Xen guys apparently managed to get windows running also but couldn't release it due to licensing issues.
