Hi all, I went to the website to see if the group has meetings at regular intervals. Did not find info on the site.

We do. Once a month usually the 2nd Sunday. This months "meet" (public lecture) was presided by Richard M. Stallman and attended by approximately 900. Most meets are attended by 15 to 20 members. We have mini tutorials on variuos subjects relating to GNU-Linux. An anouncement is made on the list regarding date, time and venue (usually HBCSE).

I hate to say this again, but the current design of the site does not in any way represent ILUG-Bom; it's more of the community sites that look like slashdot. It has to be localised heavily ... we should be concentrating on the "I" and "Bom" in the name "ILUG-Bom" over anything else. I liked the old site better, simply because it did a better job of introducing people to ILUG-Bom.

I think I agree, the site needs a lot more local content. However, this would require more volunteers and effort, something in which I myself have been lagging sadly. Maybe we could discuss this at the next meeting.

I second that!
BTW, to Nikhil Joshi, do you think you could try creating an FAQ from the questions you have been posting to the group and the answers you get? I think they are just the right questions for any newbies to get started. You can then post that to the LUG site.

I agree. At least the first page should be an IlugBom page instead of a news page. Registered users can have a customised start page, but first timers should always see the IlugBom page first.
