I am new to linux. I am using Fedora 10. Recently i bought an iPod. I can't get to load my DVDs on my iPod because there are mutiple .vob files and .vob is not supported format of iPod. So please let me know if there is vob merge and convert software out there for fedora 10. P.S.: It would be better if the software is free. Regards, Ankit.

Hi Ankit ,
There are several ways to do it. Handbrake or Avidemux would be your best bet. Here are a couple of links you can use to get started. They might be for other distributions but should work well for fedora.

Hello all, I got ultimate ubuntu 32 and 64 bit downloaded and iso images (2 gb ) are available.
For those who don't know, ultimate ubuntu is an all inclusive distro built up on ubuntu, with the addition of many softwares and multimedia libraries.
Actually it is the usual ubuntu which has be remastered to add all the codecs for audio vidio and many softwares like inkscape and thunderbird get installed by default. I also found a lot of admin tools in the system by default. softwares like gpartit and other interesting tools are also there by default. 3D desktop is also enabled by default which can obviously be switched on and off at will.
the only down side of this remastered ubuntu 9.04 version is that it takes about 45 minits to install on an average.
If any one would be interested I would be most happy to provide dvd for either 32 or 64 bit. Even better I will try to download this on a server where I have about 250 gb for foss related activities. happy hacking. Krishnakant.

Hi,
I cud get orca to start up and have configured it. But it is not able to read any page which is open in the evince document reader. The key binding for "reading entire document" is KP_add. I wonder what that means. Can anybody help?. Orca is only able to read menus or echo typed characters, words etc and that too is hardly heard (voice is cut).
Orca reads every thing for me. I use ubuntu 9.04 and all works well. I for example not just get to read the full text of an openoffice wordprocessor, but also get to know the font attributes like bold italics and size, etc.
spreadsheets also work abslutely fine.
I use pdf2text or pdf2html depending on whether formatting information is of any interest to me. Right now evince is not accessible because the evince guys are not really into lot of accessibility, although they are showing some active interest into it off late.
Else all works absolutely fine.
Was any work on accessibility of Evince done during the recent Mozilla Firefox 3.5 Release Party/CAMPStudio pad.ma overview, according to the plan set forth by KK during the MumPy meet at CAMPStudio? No minutes are available on the wiki.

Another drawback of Ubuntu Ultimate (at least I noticed) is it's a bit unstable. It crashes too often.
If they have made some improvements in current release, then it's kool. :)
hi,
i am using ubuntu ultimate edition 2.2 (32-bit).
& i not yet found any crash.
also it is loaded with lots of new themes which are more attractive, new features like partition editor, firewall configuration, backup facility, & many packages.
must say it is ultimate.
regards,
Prathamesh.

Hi Prathamesh. I was going through the terms and conditions for funding from an organisation called NLNet in netherlands. And I am happyly surprised to know that they even sponser individuals and need not have an organisation.
Who don't we put up a proposal for getting some funds for free software development and promotion? Visit the link below and think what we can do.
http://www.nlnet.nl/foundation/request/index.html Remember, they can fund upto 30,000 euros (around 12 laks or so ) and they fund for a year in the beginning. Anu, the point for you to note is we *need not * depend on Comet for re-rooting the funds and giving them commition.
Should we meet and discuss this secretly? Either School ERP or some thing similar. For example since Karthik's payment for the talking device is delayed, wy don't we get a quick grant from these people and start the work at least? about 6 months of funding for such a project is good enough.
Else we can apply for GNUKhata funding itself. with Comet not in between, we can ask for about 8 laks and get it up and running for at least 6 months easily with you, me and a couple of programmers pritty easy. Both of you, Think about this. I am mailing this before taking face to face because I want this to take place very secretly.
happy hacking. Krishnakant.

The spelling mistakes are inconsistent (at first glance) with his other mails. Checking the headers might reveal more.

The mail was about a Slightly different topic and was supposed to be sent to some people. But there are some (almost ) people who on purpose sent the email to a *public* list, possibally through my own machine (I did not fund the original mail in sent mail ).
Any ways, suspisions are about to be confirmed and it has almost been sorted out now. This has disturbed the list enough, and we must close this thread.

The problem is that perhaps there has to be another security law. "never leave your laptop open for not more than 2 minits ". I think the email was sent from my machine and that to with a proper intention. I have done the blunder of leaving the machine on during tea or may be some other time.

This is no Fun, this is serious. I think there is some thing very very serious and need to be found. There are chances that some one has used the account in a vary systamatic way, motives unknown.
