Senior Support Engineer
Responsibilities
o Respond to inquiries, primarily via email and telephone
o Provide onsite support at customer locations
o Recreate customer technical environments by researching, identifying, and resolving a variety of problems
o Work directly with staff in quality assurance, engineering, sales, marketing, operations, and administration to resolve problems
o Document all technical inquiries, develop and review content for knowledgebase and Web access
o Provide technical support for tradeshows
o Provide training or assistance to junior staff
o Help test alpha and beta products
Requirements
o Experience in providing technical support to enterprise customers (preferably Global 2000) for mission critical Windows and Linux or UNIX computer systems and related software
o Strong Windows administration skills
o Strong Linux or UNIX administration skills
� Installation and configuration of operating systems
� Setup and operation of TCP/IP networking
o Ability to program and debug Perl scripts
o Ability to debug and troubleshoot C code
o Strong experience with UNIX utilities, including editors and command shells
o 4 to 6+ years experience for each of the above requirements
o Excellent interpersonal skills
o Strong spoken and written English skills
o Ability to handle 2nd and 3rd shift support requests
o Ability to travel approximately 25 percent of the time
o B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math, or equivalent work experience
o Strong working knowledge of the various flavors of Linux, Microsoft plus x86 platforms, devices, and
networking
o MCSE or equivalent certification
Highly Preferred Skills
o Hands on experience with VMware workstation and server products a significant plus
o UNIX kernel diagnostics/debugging (at a level typically found in senior level 2 or level 3 UNIX support staff)
o Experience in working with development organizations with new product introductions
o Familiarity with HTML authoring and operation of UNIX-based Web servers
o Experience working in high-demand call centers
