---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: "Shakthi Kannan" shakthimaan@gmail.com It does have a stable OS, and the basic applications that are shipped with the phone work.
It is quite stable, you can send SMS messages, you can make phone calls with the dialer, bluetooth works, the microSD card works, madplay works on the phone for listening to songs.

Shakthi, do you really have GTA01 model with you? In that case you are few of the lucky ones to have it. As of today, they are sold out and will be shipping next lot by Sept 10! I would like to know more about your experience with the product. Will it fine if we buy "Developer Version" now and then upgrade OS once its released in october? Shipping cost is now reduced a lot from 90$ to 60$. Sharing shipping cost with 3 pieces, each will cost around 13250 which is quiet affordable. Back to original question, anyone interested in buying "Developer Version" and sharing shipping cost? Read more about "Developer Version" before making up mind. http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Developer_preview

I believe the distro capability has the upgrade option, just like any other distro. Higher releases just support more peripherals and have new applications.

Yes, that is true.

You probably want to put up a page on http://db.glug-bom.org/wiki so you will know if others are interested, and you can share shipping costs. Also, check:

Customers are different from developers. I believe they put this sort of warning message on the wiki because customers are eventually going to compare the phone with other models in the market, and they didn't want them to create FUD, because:
1. Customers never understand technology, they only use it. 2. It will take some time to get cool applications that customers would like to use. Already many projects have been registered here:

Will be glad to help.
