I remember the discussion we had earlier about hurd, gcc ... and rms. This comment might give a historic context to some of those incidents from some one who was there during that time

There was discussion about gcc fork, so this comment was from someone from that time - gives a different perspective.

Just guessing, both were attempts at trolling ?

Maybe "trolling " as the definition varies . Anyways I think BSD license is worse than the restrictive license like GPL . Thats all I meant . Yes my previous mail could be a 'troll' or what ever .. I dont care . I am just expressing a view here .

Just clarifying, did you mean BSD is Open Source and GPL is Free Software?

Yes . We can't call BSD License as 'free' license right ? Yes GPL is also open source . but the point is it is free as in http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/free-sw.html

You really should look at what the GNU project has to say and base your claims on some facts before making such sweeping statements. BSD is a free software licence since it:
(a) Meets the 4 freedoms that the GNU project lays out, and (b) Is listed as a free software licence at: http://www.gnu.org/licenses/license-list.html#SoftwareLicenses
Have a look at the Modified BSD Licence there.
Of course, you could claim that your definition of freedom is incompatible with the FSF's, and I respect that, but you'll excuse me if I sort of die laughing after I send this mail.
