Hey, Venue for the meet should be at a location that will be accessible to all and well connected by rail and bus. The location should be central. I would suggest places that fall under Dadar - Andheri & Bandra - Mankhurd axes. HBCSE, MET & KReSIT fall under this condition. Other venues can be found and scouted out. Vivek

Well, let's get started. Where do we hold the August 8th LUG meet? HBCSE? MET? Let's freeze the venue by the end of this week. As I said earlier, Red Hat is willing to distribute Fedora Core 2 CDs as an incentive for people to attend the LUG meet :-)
Venky
PS: For those who have mailed me offline for the Fedora Core 2 CDs, I request you to wait until the next LUG meet as the CDs are being made ready.

Why, one need monetary incentive to attend the meet ? If any one want, I can give the Fedora or any other Free/Open software CDs for a blank media replacement.
An organization like Redhat can do lot more things other than giving free ( of cost) CDs.

well the `:-)' saved you, otherwise your attempt was diplorable.
GLUG Mumbai, to remind every one, existed even before RedHat India was setup. RH and other companies are welcome to ask their employees to attend the meet and become part of free software community than send a carton full of CDs. The function of the meeting is social and for exchange, sharing and not to rcv freebies.

A few people had mailed me offline for the CDs. The point of the mail was to request them to attend the ILUG meet and collect the CDs. Nothing more, nothing less was intended.

As far as i see these are the three locations where we get the most numbers for the meet. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Name of Location - Contact Person - Contact No. / Email -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A) HBCSE - Mankhurd - Dr. Nagarjuna nagarjun@hbcse.tifr.res.in B) MET - Bandra - Mr. Prasad Kulkarni prasadk_iit@met.edu C) KReSIT - IIT Powai - Mr. Sameer Shastrabuddhe sam_buddhe@yahoo.com D) VJTI - Matunga - Prof. Jitendra Shah jitendras@vsnl.com --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Any other locations, feel free to add up in the similar fashion would be easier to refer.

Hmmm ... Was quite sarcastic though. We can solve this issue by having an online poll for the same.
Does this sound a good option ?

Good enough for me.
I have to travel all the way to Nashik after a linuxers meet, and would find the Central and harbor side convenient. That way I could reach Thane or Kalyan as soon as possible in order to cut a 5 hour journey down to 3 hours.
I'd really like to register my request via a poll if this be possible.
If you're asking for a go ahead on creating a poll, then you have my +1 for: - deciding a starter list of venues in consultation with the MEet organizing team. - hosting a poll.
Best Regards, Mitul Limbani
